Just gonna be frank, the current combat system is the worst combat system I have ever experienced in a video game. I've played flash games with more enjoyable combat than what we currently have in Atlas. I'm aware that the game is still early access and that's the reason I'm making this post so that devs will hopefully see that people either want it drastically improved or just completely reworked from the ground up.  So here's a simple poll for anyone interested, it closes on January 10th.

Any suggestion on what to do in order to change it? What would you prefer it to be like? Saying that it's just the worst you've dealt with and that it needs improvement gives no details as to what's bad about it, what needs improved or how it needs reworked. Please be way more detailed than "It's terrible, redo it".

Not trying to be an ass, just asking for more details so the rest of us can either agree or disagree or post our opinions.

I'd prefer them to completely rework the combat/movement system so it's more in lines with something like Mordhau or Chivalry. Both of those games were also made in Unreal Engine and I think sword to sword combat would be amazing if we had similar systems from those games in Atlas. Here's some gameplay footage if you're not familiar with Mordhau.

I should've went into more detail about what type of combat system I had in mind for a rework, thanks for reminder, I should've added it in my original post

have you not turned off auto lock? like... are you wanting the animations to be more similar? are you wanting the keybindings more similar? Like... what? Without playing the actual game you're comparing it to i'm just digging for more info.

I know the auto lock feature in game for combat is terrible. But you can turn that off and then combat is fine.

I actually have auto lock off already, have you ever played Chivalry? Chivalry and Mordhau have identical combat systems. It's not so much about keybindings, I do prefer the animations in Mordhau over what we have in Atlas, but it's more about the feel and flow of combat in Mordhau. It feels like there's weight behind your swings and hitboxes are much better. The reach of your attack is only as long as your sword, axe or whatever you use and there's no ghost attacks where you hit air and still somehow hit the target. I'd also be nice if they improved the animals too, the wolves and tigers spawn on the starter lawless lands islands and they do a lot of dmg and you can't outrun them so if they spot you on a fresh respawn you're just screwed.

I dont disagree at all about any of that really. They are working on some of it and have removed alphas at least

Removing alpha creatures from lawless islands is a good start. I kept getting hunted down by an alpha horse yesterday while I was just minding my own business trying to get resources lol
