1.5 PVE. Feedback. Suggestions and questions.

Recommended Posts

After a while I going to write some marks about the game I put in my notepad. More to come I guess.

ClxmiGO.jpg

1) - Not sure why DEVs removed alphas from Lawless, but I sometimes miss it. First our base (before wipe) we had to create defense lines, swivels, walls against them, and we had to communicate our neighbors to warn or ask for help (It's really grows friendly atmosphere in area). Right now they are gone, and this aspect of game within lawless guys is gone too.

LOkOD6L.jpg

2) - I built a Legendary Shipyard. So right now I have to guess how many more lvl to my ship is added right? And yeah - all blueprints has their different stats, randomly generated and I once got mythic cannon with beyond imagination 100% damage. Does it work this way with shipyards? Maybe I built legendary one and it has a lot of health and +0 to max ship lvl??? : ))

J1aTWcY.jpg

3) - Rope ladders work worse and worse every day. Right now I can successfully climb just one time from around 20-30 attempts. Most of time my pathfinder climb not up and down but forward and backward on a sea lvl. Sometimes after he moves forward and hit lower plank with his head he warp to the deck. Imagine - I run from angry bloody alpha lion, I'm about to be safe, I just need one jump and one climb. And I jump, I clinging to the ladder, and instead climbing I start to move around it... Lion was happy, he tied apron, put fork and knife from his pocket then ate me.

J1aTWcY.jpg

4) - Forest green dye still doesn't work.

LOkOD6L.jpg

5) - When I first went to battle mission I realized that my cannonballs trajectories (those white bow lines with circles at the end) are gone. So now I don't understand - how to perform sea battles. Before that I was able to shoot ahead, to aim correctly. Now I just see the only marker, which is attaching to enemy ship. Is this a bug? Or this trajectory is switched off? Or maybe it's somewhere in skills? Is there a way to bring it back?

UPD: I resloved this. DEVs just changed buttons, so they now within LMB Hold.

LOkOD6L.jpg

6) - I also noticed that sometimes equilibrium buff goes through the border. Sometimes it doesn't. Any information - why it sometimes stays there, after a crossing?

ClxmiGO.jpg

7) - Not sure about you guys, but I found really annoying going for treasure to the grids where are couple of similar island located. It's just another way to waste your time, go ashore, run to treasure location, realize - it's on the different island, then run back and sail there. Good thing if location is visible from the ground - sometime it's on the highest monstrous cliff, that you can not climb that easily. So you spend a hour or so to climb there, to see - there is noting.

I wish, there would be at least some marks in map - to which island I should go...

8 ) - Hmmm... yeah I've been attacked by SqotD (one of ship there was lvl-20). It happened in I3 FREEPORT (top-right corner) . Just curious - are those guys suppose to be there, or it was a buggy-bug?

LOkOD6L.jpg

9) - Crew leveling. Since the beginning - I was just couldn't get - what should I put in their stats.

- Should it be health, so they will be around 130hp in their 32lvl? Why? They just keep their duty on ship, and never looses hp.

- Should it be food? So they eat like and elephant at their 32lvl? But food is always in Mess Table on the ship.

- Should it be oxygen? But they never go diving, just on duty to the ship.

- Should it be weight? But they never carry anything. (There is a bear or horse for that).

- Should it be mele-damage? But I never take them to fight. (There is a bear for that).

I usually just put 2 point to food, and all other - to healht. But... well, I don't understand why lvl-system this like actually exists in game. It basically just doesn't do anything. It needs to be reworked somehow, so stats would increase ship controlling, cannon fire, or gold/food consumption aspects.

And yeah - there is a bug. When crew-guy on station (sail, or gun, or steering), if you put stats in him - they doesn't show up.

ClxmiGO.jpg

10) - Little cosmetic feature I would love to see. Right now tames either wandering or staying. They stays and stays and stays for hours and hours. Imagine how difficult their life this way? So I would really LOVE to see they sitting or lying, during long periods of inactivity... how gr8 would be to see bear lying in your deck in far travels?

J1aTWcY.jpg

11) - While you on full sails and walking through the ship, it still can randomly throw you outboard.

J1aTWcY.jpg

12) - Just wanna make sure DEVs reading this - ships randomly throw players to the ocean. Imagine I fight high lvl SotD's they do a leaks in my ship and I CAN NOT MOVE, I can not go to repair it because if I do so - there is a huge risk I'll find myself into the ocean and my ship will stop.

That's what actually happened. I mentioned it here.

I can't find a words how mad I'm about the situation. I built a Brig, then lost it to the bug (it hit invisible wall near whale and the only way out was actually through the whale). Then I built a Brig to my brother. Then he lost it when game crushed. Then I built Brig to my brother. Then I built a Brig for myself and I lost it in a link above. And guess what? I'm building another Brig.

I'm not here to play Brig Constructor, you know?

BTW, asking to players-guys. Any advice - how to build a ship design to minimize risk being thrown to waters?

LOkOD6L.jpg

13) - Somehow I can not hire more then 9 crew. After that new member just wont appear until those I hired already hit lvl-2 or higher. After I up them, I can hire new members, but this limit - 9 lvl-1 crew is always there. Not sure if things are planed like that for some purpose, or this is just a bug as well?

J1aTWcY.jpg

14) - After I hire crew - they stays in following state for ever. Even if I put them to ship stations - they stays in "following" state. I need to unseat them and then hit "behavior -> disable following" twice.

J1aTWcY.jpg

15) - If I put Alloy to resources box, it wont shows up in my repair-hammer resources window. It correctly shows all resources I have in box, but alloys stays at "0". Cannons are repairable with hammer anyway, even if it shows red "0" alloys

ClxmiGO.jpg

16) - And few words about foggy Tundra. I fine with all weather challenge, but there is just too much of fog. It's happen 3-5 times per day. It's like that:

- I enter H2 for treasure. After a minute - fog landed.

- I get to the island, and fog is gone.

- I get treasure, went back to the ship - new fog wave landed.

- I sail to another island for treasure, and fog is gone before my arrival.

- I was digging my 2nd treasure - when 3rd wave of fog landed.

- I got my business ashore, gather resources, refill vitamins, and when fog is gone - I departured.

- Before I hit the border 4th wave of fog landed...

I was in my I2 region and checked for just regular weather making notes to my notepad and guess what? I checked 24h period an clear weather lasts for just 7 ingame hours. All other 17 hours was fog (x4), rain (x1), coldwave (x1). snowfall (x1). (I count heatwave in Tundra as comfort regular weather so I don't count this one).

Little play-day so not much for today but...

...I BROUGHT A GOOD NEWS!

1st abandoned ship near our base IS GONE! So the system with decay of abandoned ships working! (I don't think the owner decided to get his ramshake back). Decay time is around 2 weeks.

ClxmiGO.jpg

17) - Today I lost one of my crew member. We were on our swimming from Schooner to my new Brig and suddenly pay period came. Guy just stopped underwater so near to my Brig, so I just couldn't get him a gold. His head was inside a Brig and body - underwater. Game counted this as underwater state, and because guy was so close to ship, "E" didn't do anything.

I tried all sides from underwater. I tried from inside Brig. Then his oxygen out and he died.

My point is - DEVs should change this so if guy underwater and suddenly payday hit him, he should move himself up to surface. Right now this looks childish and stupid like "I need money right now and I'll stay RIGHT THERE until I get what I deserve". And he stays - no mater what. I mean... if there would be a volcano in game, guys could stop there in the middle of it as well right?

Nice summary m8 🙂 btw levels on NPCs - on PvP all goes to health to make it harder for enemies to shoot your NPCs from sails / cannons / swivel guns. On PvE? I would say food - the more food they have the more time they last without eating. That basically means you don't have to refill food in your boats so often.

It would be nice to have another stats on NPCs to level up like cannon reload speed, sail turning speed etc. so you could specialise these NPCs.

You need to raise crew hp, if you wanna go to kraken in PVE. In another case it doesn't matter what to upgrade. All 126 lvl crew with about 500 hp survive after kraken electroshock, others low lvl died.

Nice summary.

EQ Buff seems to change from patch to patch. Sailing keep it (for now), fast travel lose it atm.

Ship rejects u. I dont have this, but i had a brig last wipe where a wood wall were placed wrong (faceing outward), so u got up a ramp and then float on top for a short time. Sprinting with moving ship resulted in a drop of off it.

What wildlive 2 shot you?

Hm... that means I do it right. Thx. I actually a bit surprised to see 126 lvl. Before wipe I maxed my crew, and they all hit just lvl 32.

J1aTWcY.jpg

I brought one more bug which is actually persist from the beginning.

18) - "Hot" or "Cold" debuffs sometimes travels with you through the border and stays forever.

scQ0mSO.jpg

It's like you go from Desert where you was in HOT state to Tundra and no mater how chilly is there - after cross you'll have this "hot" debuff and your pathfinder erotically moan - for ever. It also can happen with all other states - you can be overheated in Tundra, or cold, or freezing in +30'c Dessert.

In this state this debuff actually don't do anything. You not dying and you don't have higher food/water decay. It's just an debuff icon (which sometimes confuses you) and you forced to listen how your pathfinder suffers.

The only way to end this - put your hero to any other state. Like you have this "hot" you need to jump into Tundras waters where it's always freezing. Then this debuff is gone. But... well...seriously, you cannot stop you ship each time you crossing in far travels for ocean jumping right? Especially with some glithchy grids and not working well ladders (and sharks etc).

p.s. - screen above - is from "before wipe" village. We now have better one but the same spot I2 Millertown.

2day we finally joined the party and hunt for like 20 SotDs. Highest one we down was Galley lvl-29.

ClxmiGO.jpg

19) - We wrote here about the issue before but I'll write it again to make sure - DEVs are seeing this. When you battle high lvl SotDs (especially Galley) - you basically get your loot from just the last ship you down (all other are gone). Because fighting with well armored squad requires a lot of sailing and maneuvering and you either:

a) - just lost the places where you destroyed all ships before (this is the ocean, you know, there is nothing just water around).

b) - fight so long, so any other loot will just decay (our battle with last squad leaded by this lvl-29 Galley lasts for around 20 minutes).

My suggestion here is simple.

a) - Loot must be marked somehow. For example - shown on the map, or even lighten with pillar like your corpse, but with extended visibility.

b) - Loot must exist a bit more. For 30 minutes for example (but I'm afraid, fighting with lvl-50 Galley will take longer).

(I mean really! Imagine - you do hard work, you use your best tactic, and you get down one by one: SotD lvl-23, SotD lvl-26, SotD lvl-21 and finally SotD lvl-29. How happy you feel, knowing that you won't get anything from those 23, 26 and 21 damned ships? And maybe there was something valuable there?)

ClxmiGO.jpg

20) - When we down LVL-29 Galley, we... well were happy, because that was actually dangerous and epic battle. But no players even knew that our I2 grid became much safer place. There is option in settings menu, allows us to see - who join current region. What if there would be the same option allowing to turn on messages about SotD's being killed? Imagine, we fought with this dangerous fleet and after defeating it, after final blow there would be a message like:

"player name" with his "ship name" ship just took down Galley of damned lvl-29"

I mean there are not so many battles around (I didn't see any since EA Atlas released), and messages like that wont bother us a lot. But they can raise communication through region and will make place more friendly (If I would see this kind of message I would chat like: "wow, well done").

There is a benefit here also. If anyone defeats SotD, I can ask in a chat - what's there in a loot. Because sometimes players just drops outboard blueprints they won't need.

LOkOD6L.jpg

21) - Something wrong with ship leveling. Before lvl-31 all goes well. After that... well with weekend x2 bonus I took down:

- Schooner of Damned lvl-3 and lvl-23

- Brig of Damned lvl-4 and lvl-26

- Galley of Damned lvl-1

After that I sailed around for an hour and only then I got +1 lvl, from lvl-31 to lvl-32.

Is it suppose to be that long? Because with this state, with a lot of my battle missions I'll get my default lvl-51 in couple of months. And due to a lot of bugs this EA game has at the moment - probably never, because it's just fairly easy to loose your ship. Game crush and you done. Or as I mentioned above - ship will eject you to the ocean in the middle of battle - and you done.

And yeah... my transport Schooner will hit it's default lvl-52 in... like... never?

Base max level is 42.  Not 52.  52 can only be obtained by getting a shipyard with 200% or higher durability.

But they added 10-lvl more before even Anarchy patch, so it became 52... did they roll it back to 42?

PTR was rolled back to 42.  52 is the max level that can be obtained when building a ship with a 200% durability shipyard.  Standard shipyards build ships capped out at 42.

PTR was rolled back to 42.

Didn't know that.

So that's mean ship with 124% quality (from our legendary shipyard) will get just 2 lvl more...?

Are you sure about the level 52@200%? My understanding was the levels are capped at 50 and to achieve that you needed a mythic shipyard (durabilty not being a factor)

22) - I still don't understand - what are barshots for. IRL - they were against sails and ropes. Are those in Atlas work the same and made just for PvP battles?

ClxmiGO.jpg

23) - What if fire (from campfire, torches, grill, etc) would dry your clothes (and you) way faster? Like it happening in real life?

ClxmiGO.jpg

24) - While I do love to see snowfall in tundra, I totally don't like the sound. I live in Russia and I do see a lot of snowfalls in winter - non of them falls with this howling windy sound. And especially this kind of peaceful with big flakes snow, like we see in a game. So my suggestion - make it not that loud. And use different king of sound sample. For example this one:

The getting thrown off the ship thing is a problem with wall placement.

If you place a wall the way that its not covered by a ceiling you get into a floating state if you accidently get too close and that throws you off, this even happens underneath stairs.

They NEED to be under a ceiling nothing else removes this effect. It is the most comon cause of flying pets after crossing aswell.

It actually make sense. Last time I had this slope wall next to my door, with nothing a top of it. And I was ejected while I was close to it.

25) - Yeah... I knew sometimes SotDs are stuck into island, but I didn't expect to see THIS right in my (EU PVE I2 Millertown) Village.

And yet - I was on my discovery mission in H1 today and found another whale stuck into iceberg.

(p.s. - Regular swivel ammo doesn't do anything. Gangster shot - around 300 damage. Flamethrower - 1 damage per tick. Sickle - 15 per hit. Spear - 30. Tames do not land any damage).

22 - they are useless in PVE. In PVP they useless too cause there are no "fair" fights.

23 - already works

24 - blizzard sound that used now is better. Especially when you live in tundra without one live soul near you 🙂 brrr...

And like a rain it's mean disaster, not to admire.

26) - We played DUO, and 2day I guess I lost my teammate.

We were on our long way to get lvl-50 Galley of Damned and for that we had to max-lvl our Brigs and get a lot of skills (that means - a lot of saling, discoveries, and high lvl treasure for personal leveling). So here is my teammate story:

- I was on my treasure mission, I've been sailing along the border from I2 to B10. I just started my journey. Got northern border of I2 and went east. After I crossed from I2 to H2, after server loaded, I found myself inside of damned Galley. My ship was stuck. I couldn't turn, couldn't escape. All my control didn't work. My guns didn't do anything, while Galleys guns damaged me a lot.

This Galley carried me from the border to the middle of map, where my ship started to rotate insanely fast inside of this Galley. I tried to go for planks, and my ship just ejected me to the ocean. All I could do from this point is to watch this enemy Galley carry my ship away from me. After a while, I got message that my ship sunk.

The ship I was leveling for couple of weeks.

So right now, I have to tame another bear. Then gather another resources, then build another ship, then hire more crew, then make them clothes... and then, start over leveling my ship. Start from the beginning. Where I was couple of weeks ago. And I just don't wanna to. I'm not here for play constructor. I'm no here to play lumberjack. And I just don't see any reason to start over, because I probably won't make it. The game just wont allow me to level my next ship and do the quest.

Best way now, is just drop this game and either wait couple of years, or never come back. They didn't able  make ARK fork fine, you know?

(end of his story)

So I guess I'm solo now... sad.

By the way. I've been thinking of all my ships I lost. And I came to that. I lost for about 20-30 ships since EA release. And I didn't lost a single ship in real battle. All my loses were to game bugs. Like ship twitched after I unanchored it and hit pier so hard so half of planks were gone. Another time I stuck in to invisible wall near whale, receiving damage to first two planks. The only way to escape the trap - sail through THE WHALE itself which was suicide way. Another time ship ejected me to the ocean during the battle.

LOkOD6L.jpg

27) - I found that when I go clinch with damned ship, all my crew from clinch side, drop their guns and stay near them. So if it happen, I then go full sail speed and walk through my ship to assign crew to guns again.

Is that a bug, or it has to be this way for some reason? I wish they stays in their station anyway...

ClxmiGO.jpg

28) - Ok. We have medium cannons that can rotate within some angle right?

But when I aim (and I always do it myself, never use auto aim), all guns point in parallel direction. Like that:

kwN3xE0.jpg

So if damned ship goes towards me, or if it's just a schooner of damned, or it's just far away - some of my cannonballs will miss. Because my parallel hit range - just wider then my target.

So I do really want to see the feature in game which allows me to control - how wide my target range will be. And trust me. Most of my time (maybe all of my time) I will use something like that:

Once you said it created a friendly environment I thought “this poor guy” not your fault though. This isn’t the economy game that some want it to be.

they will eliminate all forms of economy that this game has. And if the devs don’t the players will definitely do that for them.

this game isn’t built for economy. It would be great if it was but it’s not. It’s ark and the only thing that actually matters is raiding. The only way to correct this is to make structures completely indestructible and to have the only pvp going on out at sea. I would actually like to see this happen.

actual pvp, player vs. player with all of the security to be able to go back home after the pvp is done and then prepare for more pvp.

this game as it is will not succeed in any shape or form. There will definitely be another rework of the system pretty soon and hopefully it happens before the co sole release that way it is only the pc players have have to go through another wipe

29) - I've been thinking of ships leveling.

It's long now (I MEAN LO-O-O-O-NG). I still didn't max my ship level btw. Last day with x2, I sail for about 7 hours and only got around 30% of ship's level (it's 38 now).

And if I get better shipyard and wish to create better ship, with even longer leveling what then? Start over? And then I'll get even better shipyard? It will take and eternity.

So my suggestion here is simple.

Let level cap be 41 anyway. Whether your boat came from just common shipyard or mythic one. The numbers you get each level must be different up to 50% more. So each lvl your Brig:

- Gets 5% more damage from common shipyard or 7.5% more from mythic one.

- Gets 8% more resistance from common shipyard or 12% more from mythic one.

- Adds 200 more weight from common shipyard or 300 more weight from mythic one.

...etc.

30) - Let me speak about weather. Well... mostly about the wind.

I DON'T LIKE HOW IT WORKS NOW.

Right now it's just slowly rotates clockwise. It's raise and cut it's strength from full to calm and back. The problem is it's not just about wind is simple and predictable. It's also work the way, if you go far "half-atlas" sailing - you will ANYWAY spend part of your travel counter-wind. And part of your travel through calm. It's like that:

m4jHv3D.jpg

So imagine - I sometimes don't wanna travel far because I know I'll be there in calm and counter-wind. I'LL BE THERE NO MATTER WHAT. And I have to use my battle ship because I need to lvl it up, and it's not that fast - just 13-14 knots full wind and falls to 7 knots through calm. It's around 25-30 minutes per grid with this speed.

And guess what? We don't necessary need to experience all those adverse conditions each travel.

My suggestions is here.

We need to speed up our traveling.

(If I would do THE GAME - I would actually compress whole world by 33%. It's just no point of pure sailing this long. I have like 800 hours in game and I guess 700 of those hours I was just sitting and didn't do anything, waiting of when my ship gets there - central parts of renewed arctic region where you have to maneuver between islands are really good example of how things should be in game everywhere

Please don't advice me to try private sever with couple of grids. I'm not talking about how to save the time - If that's would be the question, the solution would be simple. Abandon the game and save all time! I'm now talking about how game designed and how to improve game experience).

Anyway. To speed it up - we need wind rework. We actually need to be able to plan our far voyage - so there will be effective wind angle whole way (maybe we sail 2 extra grids but with help of wind - it will take us less time).

Now about the wind. The changes I'd love to see:

- It doesn't needs to rotate - just normal straight wind stays for some time. Then it change it's direction and strength.

- The changes are random but small turns are way more often then big ones. And limit max turns to... for example 75... well maybe 90 degrees. So there would not be the situation of - you sail tailwind, next minute - it's counter-wind.

- Most of the time it should blows average strength. Hurricanes and calms - should lands OCCASIONALLY.

- And... well it's not necessary, but you do know that in real Earth wind actually mostly blows from west to east and when you, for example, fly from Europe to US flight will lasts couple of hours longer than if you fly back?
