Confirmed. Same situation yesterday in B9.
They were impossible to escape on the ramshackle sloop with medium wind.
🙂 had to swim to the shore.

I posted the same in the PTR non bug report thread. E3 over 20. some were stuck on shore. F3 this morning there was a bunch up too. Its making sailing and discovering islands not fun. Also watched all the animals I had on my ship fly away-literally while trying to dodge them. They seem to be making any zones that masses are in very laggy. Most of the zones only had me and another person. Ping was at 60 which is quite nice.

Had same issue today i like the spawn cluster gives abit more of a challenge but the amount what is spawning is insane and when the winds not with you its near on impossible to dodge them at 1 point i would say 80% of my area had damned ships and i could see over 20 spawned in front of me

Great idea for the devs to have fleets of them eh?

Oh what happens when 2 fleets become 1.. oh I know.. we'll just deny that it can happen.

Should stick em in far off places.. let people sail to them to fight them, not let em wander all over getting in the way.   In fact.. have maybe 1-2 in a zone.. make it tough, give it a couple of escorts.. make them tough as well.  But possibly allow them to peel off and chase a ship abit faster, so you can pull the escorts, sink them then sink the big guy.. but this having fleets sailing around wiping the sea out from under anyone in a raft or sloop.. well, that's a surefire way of getting rid of your playerbase.

Personally I'm up for that challenge.. but not many are like me.

They could even dedicate an island, every 2-3 zones, to the undead.. give them wrecked castles to unlive in and cannons to shoot and treasure to be found, with ships patrolling around it, people can go there, fight sotd all day long.. and everyone can go about their business of visiting the inlaws..

We got into a ship fight on our server and managed to pull 3-4 groups into one spot on the map..
Got into a 3v1 ship battle.. chased the weaker of the 3 ships who decided it would be a good idea to go wrangle up 3-4 packs of SotD into one spot as we did circles and passes in & out of the massive pack of SotD.. They ended up running away after taking loads of hits from the SotD.

that SotD became the talk of our servers Global chat as people came & gone from the server.
"WTF is up with these 20 SotD in one spot?"

so with that i suspect some of the bigger packs may be caused by players leashing the packs from their spawn location.

Go check out polar...  sail between a pack to your left & right all orange/red... find another pack in front of you.. and a Mean Whale giving chase from behind.
"F* it! boyz we going straight through!  Get those hammers ready!"

In f5 i got between 2 fleets with my ramshackle sloop. The ships were so close to each other that they kept bumping into each other but still the galleon found some leisure to unleash broadside after broadside upon me while i was a sitting duck cause there was no wind. Took them almost a minute to send me swimming to shore with the sharks nibbling my toes. Why are those ghostships not bound to the same wind mechanics as we are?

Hahahah even before the SoTD changes that's how it was in N15 and O15. I pretty much swore off of ever going into O15 again after 3 red sotds and 2 mean whales wrecking my beloved brig. There wasn't enough cannons onboard to take that hot mess out. Now with Galleons. Im afraid.

As I watched my brig sink with the whales coming in. I was humming Powerman 5000's When Worlds Collide song.

they are, you just need to angle your ship right, with sails the correct way, and the right sail set up and you can out run anything, I was out running sotds, on a raft till a moron rammed my raft, then called me names for no reason,  and I was going head against the wind

Easy prey then, no? Just nail them onto the shore. What about boarding the buggers? When they sank me i tried to grapple hook them to bring the fight to them but it didn't quite work. Nobody visible on deck neither.
