Well, what we are seeing is that the Megas are controlling whole grids, and attacking anyone who tries to build there.  I am sure that is not the case for every grid, but for many, it is.  We are starting to look for a new game.  Our best ship builder said he is not going to pay 50% taxes.  He's willing to give it a try, to see if we can control an island that has the resources he needs, but we aren't confident.  Others in the group are saying it appears the only option is to bend the knee, or look for a new game.  I also find it depressing to look at the map and see the situation.  We did not get in right away, so what we see is what a new company would see, who is not there from day 1.  So then we saw grids that had no owners, only to get there and realize it is lawless, which we want no part of, since you can be raided at any time.  Then we see that a company owns 4 of 5 islands in a grid, so we try the empty island, only to realize it has no resources...no metal nodes, no sugar, no crystal, no gems.  Just doesn't work for us.  We are from a very large gaming org, and a bunch of them are playing another game, and want us to join that one.  We are considering it.

Once it goes back to na/eu servers being seprated there will be a lot of islands with no one on them

if there are not enough players returning there will be no problem but we do not know that yet...

well we took the island we wanted with about 10 people a brig and a schooner that already had an owner with multiple brigs schooners and stone buildings... took us about 30-45 min till they were wiped cuz they did not know how to defend their island...

Hopefully that will be more possible when it goes live.  I am assuming that we will give it a shot, but they have their minds made up...no bending of the knees.

You misunderstand.  People like me, like PvP.  What we don't like is being denied the opportunity to PvP because somebody hit us when we weren't online, meaning we have to PvE for days to get back into a position to PvP...but then somebody hits again, when you weren't on, so it's back to grinding and building.  When people want the ability to PvO severely diminished or eliminated, it's not because they don't want to PvP...it's because they want to PvP.

There are hybrid unofficial servers, where some grids are pve and some are pvp. Or you can make friends with other people. It just seems you want the ability to attack other people, while having no one with the ability to attack you.

Yeah there won’t be the huge spike that some people think. Sure the numbers will go up but not like in the beginning.

and they will drop back down to this low very quickly.

people were already fed up before but they will come and try one more time. Once they get wiped again they will just leave again. This will never be a high pop game. Not even after release

Ofcourse it won’t but it was nothing unexpected right, with such a huge map and that many people being able to play, that’s begging for alpha’s that ruin the game again.
