Guess Im done with this game then, oh well. I sailed for weeks to find a claimed piece of land, worked my ass off to build what I had. It was a great game while it lasted. Thank god I only paid 20 bucks for it.

So why not stay and help make the game better. It’s in early access, a wipe is always possible. Have more fun by trying the new mechanics, meet others and do the underwater stuff.

That's all gated behind a goal that the vast majority of people didnt get to in the first iteration.

True, including myself. So still lots of material to the game to play. Maybe with the rework there will be more people on to do the kraken with.

that said, it would be great if we had a 2 week 10x to get caught up.

If this was really a test, we'd have the tools to actually effect the test.  The idea that you can call your customers testers and NOT give them tester tools is just insane.  Progression speed is the last thing you test because having to do real speed progression multiple times is not fun.  Hence why nobody wants to do it again.

They had to set the entire game's gather rate to 2x because people felt progression was too slow.  How would anybody think starting over is a good idea?  That's a lot slower.

I am starting to think people should have to answer a questionnaire before participating in EA.  There will probably be multiple wipes before full release and once the game is "released" it will be wiped again.

Did you guys think they would release the game and force all the new players to compete against companies that have 2 years of infrastructure in place?

ARK was EA, no wipe before or after release....only way I lost mo original guy was when they retired cluster servers

Not wiping before release would be a huge issue for new players.  I do not see how they cannot do it.

Was ARK a massive persistent world like Atlas in terms of size and players?  I never played it so no clue and I will not assume just because they did it for one game that means they will do it for the next.

If they did not wipe for release and I was new I would not want to play the game.

Firstly, early access usually means having an advantage over people who wait till launch.

Second, we're not just talking about infrastructure. We're talking about total character progression wiped out. Rebuilding bases and fleets is trivial; repeating hundreds of hours of grinding levels and discoveries isn't.

I would have no problem with a Wipe if it was explicitly defined in the EA information as it has been in every EA I have ever been in that had a wipe.

And no, not every EA has a wipe.

I just expected this to happen.  I am not surprised by it and it does not bother me one bit.  I've tested many games over the years so I am used to it.

I just don't understand the angst.

My question would be is that since Atlas will be in "Early Access" for at least a few years stil, how many more wipes will there be? And will there be a wipe at full Launch?

I expect there to be and would be surprised if there wasn't.  It seems that many ARK players are bringing their experiences into this game expecting the same things.  I dunno.  Odd dynamic between a player base that says it hates the devs and the company.

Well since you are a tester, you shouldn’t be having fun. And if you are having fun, you really aren’t doing your job.

i really don’t like the idea of anyone having fun during early access. You need to be rigorously testing these servers to ensure that once it is released there are no longer any bugs.

believe me, after this game releases, if there are any bugs at all I will definitely blame the testers and not the devs.

these testers need to stop being lazy and actually test the servers for once instead of being completely selfish. It really is pathetic at this point

just be upfront with the players when they plan to stop the wipes this game is the type of game people need to know this info because of the time investment

If you can not handle wipes wait until release. More wipes are likely to come. The only guarantee of no wipe is after release.

Games are marked „EA“ not to get customers opinion to make the game better but just to pull the  coins out of their pocket.

The wipe is a joke and is replacing a working open and free system by a regulation system. Welcome to socialism.
