Land Claims, Leaderboards and a change of dynamic

Ya, but I've seen people say this before, then when I find a claim that has no resources, not even a rock... they still wouldnt let it go.

 

Also, you have Grids like B11. East India Trading co owns 2 entire islands. No one from the company is on in that grid during prime-time.... there are no taxpayers harvesting... its just 2 ghost -town islands there. This is a perfect example of the problem.

 

The other island is owned by another of the "Top" companies, Paragon. They own 90% of the island (of course no one is online in the zone) and the other 10% is actually physically walled off to purposely prevent the offending "invaders" from accessing their land and harvesting. So there is no tax collection going on there either. 

 

Of course, all 3 islands have a 20-day timer.

 

I mean, how big of a (fill in blank) do you have to be to wall off your potential taxpayers?

 

It is basically a whole Grid wasted in the name of just gaining more land for leaderboard purposes.

True enough, I never understood the idea of walls on PvE... I make a point to take them over and take them down generally

Right on! I hate it when i hear that every shifty move or decision is justified by "Its a pirate game, what did you expect?". Being a Pirate is not always about being a pain in the axe to everyone, or not about constant competition and thievery.... We can all be civilized and only bring out the "dark side" of piracy when someone deserves it. 

Respect the code, or be cast out and shunned. =P
