Gold Weight

Recommended Posts

Can you PLEASE update gold weight. The flavor text says 2 grams per coin, in game each coin weighs 400 grams, or 200 times the flavor text!

Hope they will fix it to 0,002. Gold is stupidly heavy. You take good treasure and got 8000 gold on your back.

But i don't see any reason for blaming devs because this maths. There is just weight 0,4 of gold. Nobody said it's kilograms. If i say something about weight in this game, i just say ''gold from this treasure weights _____chaldron.

This. I saw this post on Reddit as well. And while I think it's a valid point and that gold weight should be lessened some, couldn't help noticing that it doesn't actually say what type of weight it is.

I was fairly confident that I saw (kg) on the hover text on the water barrels but I don't see it there anymore.

clarified where I saw the (kg)

I'm just curious.

If I have 40k gold - how can I purchase that artifact in Freeport? I mean right now it's 16000 weight. I need at least Galleon to carry that much of gold and I didn't figure it out - how to carry that much of gold from ship to a vendor.

My pathfinder can slowly carry 2000. If I'll put all in weight - it will be around 3000... yet I need 40000...

IDK, but I guess you'd have to do the thing where you drop it all on the ground from storage and pick up the boxes, since that allows you to go WAY over your max weight. Then have someone beat you with a spyglass motivational stick.

When u look at a Storage box or A smithy u can clearly see how many KG is in the inventory.  i remember that 1 big chest is 12Kg (12 on inventory)says it when u place it and empty.

Given the volumes at which they're expecting people to use gold, and the pricing etc. the weight seems too high for practical purposes.  Player shops etc. will have a hard time with it at the current setting.  Further compounded by the fact that anybody who brings a ship bigger than a Schooner to a trading post will be paying 5000+ Wood/Fiber/Thatch in tax from freeport decay.

Typical WildShot (I prefer that to GrapeCard) development, add a feature (NPC vendors) that sell items that require you to exploit a bug (exceeding capacity) to use. Classic.

Well, I think most of us noticed gold coins weight was pretty obnoxious from pretty early on. Seems like this would be an easy thing to fix too.

A typical house cat weighs around 3 kg, but using Grapeshot Math it would weigh in at a monstrous 600 kg, as much as an adult large brown bear. Imagine that hopping up on your lap.

Two grams is ridiculously wrong for any coin weight. No coin could possibly weight two grams.

Probably meant to say "two hundred".

Well, either you're joking or you seriously think 380 gold coins should weigh as much as your average adult human being. 2 grams is roughly what a dime weighs, so by your reckoning, you'd have to be a weight lifter to carry $3.80 worth of dimes. Interesting, I must be stronger than I thought! I can lift that with one arm!

2 grams of pure gold....and 398 grams of random trash metal

But, yeah, dropping gold down to .1 would be a good start. .05 even better.

But, doing a bit of research, Doubloons weighed about 7 grams of gold.  Pieces of Eight were about 30 grams of silver.

So, even if we rounded up a bit, it would be .01 to be comparable to a Doubloon, or .03 to be comparable to Pieces of Eight

They really need to redo the weights across the board on a LOT of things. Gold, water pouches maybe a bit light, water barrels empty/and full  way too heavy, lighthouse very light, berries heavy, the boat weight should be increased  or the plank weight shouldn't factor into the ships carry capacity... somehow a large plank on a boat which uses around 300 weight of raw mats is only 20 when finished????  The current pure metal once processed into ingots weighs less and its more efficient to ship bars if you need them vs the raw mats. would love to see a foundry where you process ore into metal. then can cast hot metal ingots/blanks for tools which slowly cool down. If you fail to use them in enough time throw it back into the furnace for a heat up. If they ever bring in inventory pulling you could pull from a furnace into a smithy to craft things with metal. They greatly increased the cost of a large stone door to make and it still weighs little but if you break one back down good luck walking off with that. Producing large stone gates at distance is even more efficient than moving the alloy bars.

I don't know who their balance specialist is or if it's just up to the dev who is working on item X to assign a weight but they really should have someone who has final say across the board and also takes the time to go back through everything and balance it all back out. Ship hull , mast and deck weight should be part of the ship... not add to the weight capacity of the ship the ships capacity should be anything added that isn't part of the base ship weight itself.

well, i would suggest the creation of a secondary currency, like diamonds or maybe a promissory note. you would need moneychangers for that. you can go there with your gold and trade it into secondary currency which is lighter and easyer to transport. with a fee of course. so you either carry ALL the gold or most of it with muss less weight...

*tackles him and stuffs a gag in his mouth to keep him from any further crazy talk of creating additional currencies.*

I @#$&ing hate games with 37 different kinds of currency.

Gold.

Gold is it. Change the weight of gold fine. Make it weigh less than tinkerbell’s IUD (what? You think just because she’s a tiny fairy she’s not an adult?) I don’t care. Just don’t get them started introducing additional currencies, because that is the devil’s work. I’ve seen it in other games.

Not here.
