Offline/Anchored ship protection PvP

The PvP on the seas in this game is actually very interesting and fun! Building your own ship, step by step, plank by plank, build up a fleet of ships and then battle other players in nerv recking chess games on the high seas, this is... or at least it felt like the core of this game, in the beginning. 

The PROBELM: 

Out of balance "time to fun ratio"

Spending lots of time on building and leveling your ship, customizing it, so it gets a soul, not just a throw away ship, is lots of fun! And if you loose it in a battle, well then at least you gave them a good fight. But if you log out and come back online and your ship was sunk by some naked guys who came from the nearest free port with a raft and some resources, that are required to sink a ship while no one is online, this is just frustrating! Right now many players try to build huge bunkers, walls etc. to protect ships. Those structures not only look awful, but also cause lots of lag and render only a small distance away from you, so when you sail into a busy Island, you first have to sit there and wait until all structures spawn in (render).

I spend about a week, side note: I play only on evenings, trying out different shapes and layouts, so the ship (schooner) looks decent, but is still is practical, we even managed to level it up and had a few nice evenings with it... but then it got offline sunk.

The SUGGESTION: 

Allow players (companies) to have some sort of area, where an anchored ship is immune to damage, but also may not use its canons. It should still be capturable, since it takes enough time, that someone from your company will come online and notice it, so you will be able to resist. 

This safe area could be created by some sort of structure, like the light house/tower, or some sort of a port building. Or you could even make this feature available on the territory claimed by the company (near a flag). But this safe are should be limited in size and maybe even need some sort of payment/upkeep, so each company will have to decide, which ships to protect and how many ships it can afford to maintain etc.

The result would be, in my opinion, less lag and clutter by huge amounts of gate structures and walls. And people would be forced to fight and sink ships on the sea, or at least lure them out of harbor, rather then while they are anchored and no one is around.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE 100%.

The number of time we have come on, after a long days work IRL. Only to find every ship burned to the ground, by some moron with a handful of oil jars and fire arrows, is ridiculous.

Off line ship raiding is stupid. I agree that losing your ship in a cat and mouse game of chess on the high seas is fun. But it has gotten so bad that we started with over 40 members when this game first came out, and we have just had to merge with another tribe because our company is now only 6 members, and its all due to people getting fed up with offline raiders.

I understand offline raiding of bases happens, but bases are tougher and can be better protected. But ships in harbour are as weak as paper when at Anchor.

Sort it out devs or you will lose the rest of the players, that so want to play this game. THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY NUMBER ONE.

Yep, there are lots of companies/tribes loosing people, because of that. 

Hardcore games that require some dedication and grind are fun, if you have the feeling of achievement at some point. After over 280 hours in Atlas we have basically the same amount of achievement, any well organised tribe can do in a week or two, after starting from scratch.

In games like Life is Feudal (also hardcore sandbox MMO) you have to grind, farm, skill and build a lot and there is always a chance to loose all you have accomplished. But not in one night, after some guys raided you offline. You have to loose several battles and make some mistakes, in order to loose everything.

This way you dont feel like you wasted time, even if you lost.
