Player shops

Recommended Posts

I actually like the idea of player shops since it will get rid of all the sailing trade companies out there.

no point to that in a pirate game.

At least now all they have to do is go to the Freeport and buy whatever they want.

Wont even have to talk to anybody or worry about getting double crossed 👍

It's a good change, trade companies and all are good but not really working on PvP and right now there is no economy. However i doubt the player shops will change anything if we won't be able to place buy orders.

Yeah I was actually surprised by this. I think this might have been the first good decision they have made. The only sad part is, it would be the first

It will be good for small companies and soloers for sure. They'll be able to specialize in certain skill trees, and buy the rest they need.

It will also super-crafters to sell top gear to small companies and soloers too.

YOU KNOW, this game is a game that has "Pirates" in it, it's not a pirate game. They are trying to make the game more like EVE online, which has alittle bit of everything. NOT once did they say this was a strait pirate game that i can remember.

you want to be a pirate be a pirate then

want to be a trader be a trader

want to be a farmer be a farmer

want to be a tamer, be a tamer

want to be a crafter, be a crafter

THIS IS THE REAL GAME not fucking pirates everywhere.

I don’t remember that. I do remember they said they wanted one company to eventually rule the globe.

in all reality, they just made the player shops which does away with the need for trade companies. Nobody is going to bother to set up a meeting when they can just go to the free port and get anything they want.

what they did says you are wrong. Not what I say but what they already did

In order for this to be a game about Pirates, there has to be something to pirate. That means players who AREN'T PIRATIN' are an integral part of the game. So, while yer all arguing over which side of the coin yer lookin' at, ye needs to step back and recognize yer lookin' at the same coin getting stolen from ye by pirates with bigger vision...

1. Players still need to transport resources to Freeports, and bought goods back to their bases. There will be plenty of lucre on the seas to pillage.
2. Trade routes will begin forming, which will make it both easier to find targets of opportunity, and easier to patrol those routes looking for Pirates to fight. There will be value in either having your own escorts, or hiring them.
3. This will be a new way to earn gold, which means companies that would rather sell metal on the market than hunt SOTD will have a valid means of hiring and paying for AI crew to secure their bases. Raiding will become a more risky endeavor than attacking ships at sea. There's a reason fortified islands were rarely attacked in period.
4. Sinking ships means having to salvage wrecks. Boarding them and destroying beds means being able to offload cargo at sea. Look for combat tactics to change as people realize NOT sinking a ship is more profitable.

TL:DR Markets beget steady trade begets fat targets begets good piratin'

Should this have had a sarcasm tag?

Buy orders are THE MECHANISM which makes Eve’s economy superior to all other gaming economies. If Atlas’s devs are serious about creating an Eve like economy eventually, it will need to include a buy order mechanism.

call them contracts or whatever. Don’t make them remotely fillable the way Eve’s are in order to keep your sailing theme going, but HAVE THEM.

Nope I was actually serious. I want there to be a shop like in wow. So I can just go up to it and buy whatever I want and it takes my money.

So in a sailing/exploration MMO you want zero interaction with other players and the ability to buy all the resources from far flung lands without ever leaving your grid?

Are you talking about the official servers or private servers because this seems rather counter to the MMO and exploration aspects of this game?

Nah. This is a pirate game. I’ll still to raid. No need for trade companies or exploration. I’ll just be a pirate.

if I am going to need to go to the Freeport for npc’s I would also like the player shop to be there so o can buy everything else. Like a one stop shop.

dont worry, I’ll be sailing, but I’ll be sailing for piracy and nothing else.

i am sure the pve people will have good trade companies, which is a very good thing for pve. There isn’t any room for trade and exploration in pvp

No interest in the exploration aspects.

Confused though.. who will you be pirating if there are no trading vessels on the water? other pirates?

He is a tard that doesn't think things through before he spews his opinion, that or a troll. Just because he doesn't like exploring or being a merchant he thinks it shouldn't be in game. He says there is no room for exploration, yet in order to find bases and conquer land...you need to explore. He is the ADHD crowd that doesn't want to do anything in a mmorpg but stomp people.

You'll be a pirate?

You'll be going to freeport for NPC's?

You'll be sailing?

That mean you bought the game or are you still trying to convince people that you know everything there is about a game you don't even own?

Please don't tell me you bought Atlas after all the ranting you've been doing about how EVIL GS is.  Please... tell me you're just trying to make people believe you know what you're talking about.

They are not working on PvE either. If people could at least setup a shop.

I'd like to see a trading stall you could build. Place it down. Two people put items in, if they BOTH click accept they get the other persons items.

This way anyone can set up a trading post and have safe (or at least safer) transactions.

Have fun with this game then. You’ll be stuck at some point.

As I said before, I am not a pc gamer. But when it comes out on Xbox o will end up getting it because my friends will be getting it and they are already trying to talk me into it. I told them no in the beginning but they just keep insisting.

if that is that case I will be making sure that I do what I can to make sure the changes I want to happen with this game happen.

of course I am ranting, there is stuff in this game that I don’t want in it. I don’t necessarily like the paste and metal aspect of stone walls but I already have a plan to work around all of the problems so far.

one thing that I want is for there to be a WoW based auction hall/player shop.

The funny thing is, I won’t. What other people think is boring is actually what I love. I can spend 8 hours everyday doing nothing but grinding mats and have plenty of fun.

I am a true grinder and can very easily do one single task with tunnel vision. I already have my first 3 days planned out, which includes nothing but leveling a special mate farming.

wildcard has actually been doing me a solid with some of these changes. Going to be very easy by the time it comes on Xbox

If they did an auction hall/player shop like WoW, trading would be 100% safe. You just show up whenever you want and buy anything that 100’s have people have put up in the shop. Would be great
