Giant Gates

Of all the things to bring in from Ark you choose Giant Gates. Now we have 90% of the game water 10% land and only 2% of which you can use because Giant gates all over the islands. If you have just started playing this is a major no no they will leave the game or ask for a refund. you can not build ships there is no place to build 30,000 and only 1,000 are really getting to play it. Remove the giant gates out of your pirate ship game or you will have no Pirate ships and you player base will be 2,000 instead of 30,000. as is you will never be like eve online like you wanted to be.

i like having the option for defenses... i like large gates,  we need large walls too.

it not the look its the hole island being blocked by one company of a few players this isnt Ark there are thousands to think about

Currently at this stage in the game, all gates should just be removed due to the obvious overpowered nature of gatespamming.

After a couple months, the regular gate should be made to be a little bit larger so Elephants and Giraffes can use them, and should be limited to 3 per territory flag.
"Large" Walls about the size of the regular gates should be added as well, for defensive purposes.

Not to mention, the gates should be twice as expensive as what it would cost to cover the same area with normal stone walls, and the "Large" walls should be the exact price of what it would cost to cover that area in normal stone walls.
These should also be limited to a total of 3 territories.

In fact, while we are at it, all Companies should be limited to 1 flag per five people in the company.

Like the OP said, there are 30,000+ people trying to play, and only 1000-5000 can, due to walls and everything already being claimed.
Unfortunately, you can't be a pirate on a ship that just roams, because you'll take constant ship damage unless you're in you're own territory, which is impossible since majority of the sea is already claimed.
This is the reason they have early access of course, however this current trajectory is heading nowhere good.

The Behemoth Gates need to be removed or made smaller. the islands just look trashy as hell with gates just spammed everywhere. it makes it so hard to travel around the islands or build when the whole area is just spammed with these enormous gates. make them just big enough to fit an elephant through and with no top cross beam so a giraffe can get through. but something needs to be done about it. even on island where a company isn't even occupying and only visiting occasionally the gate spams make it near impossible for anyone else to use the island and it would take hundreds of explosives or thousands of cannonballs to remove it all. I was hoping for the game to be a pirate game and look like a pirate game. but instead it's becoming a game covered in messy giant gates.

Giant gates just got nerfed into the ground. Both the gateway and the gate now require a total of 300 alloy to build, along with the other resources. So, once the other gateways get destroyed (if ever), you should see a lot less of them.

 

I will say though, because of these gateways, I'm raiding for practically free at the moment. Since most gates are outta the way from a companies regular foot traffic (there are a lot of gates in the water), I'll place a claim down and demolish that shit and get a good chunk of resources out of it XD
