Which server are you playing? PVE or PvP?

on PvP you can contest and claim it. Very easy. Raid the enemy, destroy defence and capture the flag. For a good enemy you may need some Dragons and some days of time to be succesfull.

The game got way to much gold sink now. Nobody wants to return to season 3 NPC costs. Trade income is reduced heavily and you still need to pay up to 100k for Galeon and 50k for the armored dock. To farm ~200k gold you need about 8-10 hours doing high quality treasure maps with 3-4 Players and drive the ship back safely afterwards. Considering you have collected those maps already, have a ship(Brig) to make the journey on a planned route and have good tames with craps as favorite to jump on the mountains and through enemy puckles etc.

Well on PVE you simply can not. So for PVE ther should exist a different map with no claimable islands. Only lawless claim.
