I enjoyed playing ARK on hardcore because tribes were a lot more cautious about killing other tribes because it had to be a co-ordinated attack and they had the chance of losing all their level progression and skills. I think this game would benefit from having hardcore as it would mean more people who be diplomatic rather than just shoot down every sloop they see in their galleon or whatever. I'd like there to be a ocean map hardcore alternative, but I suspect it would be very empty as it is meant for thousands of players and I doubt there are more than perhaps a hundred hardcore enthusiasts. I would not mind that though, on the contrary I like it not to be particularly crowded. But it would demand a lot of computer power to host all grids...
