Does anyone have an updated guide to creating a dedicated server?

Recommended Posts

I have been at using the old guides for a couple of days with no luck. Previously I had a 2x2 working from those guides at the beginning of the year. But I am obviously doing something wrong now. I would just like to get a 2x2 or a 3x3 put together for the family. Thanks for any assistance.

I use this https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/47724-atlasserverupdateutility-asuu-server-manager-blackwood-backups-mod-updater-crash-detection-discordtwitch/

It has its own setup wizard you just need to make sure all the ports are forwarded on your router and added to the firewall for the pc thats running the server.

With this I can run upto 30 grids on my server PC which has 32 gigs ram and an FX 8230 which is pushing it a bit. However I have to keep an eye on the memory usage there. Im using the new 11x11 grid.

Shouldnt have a problem with a small map or even Blackwood as the wizard tells you if you have to do something in order for it to run. For a home based server set the rcon to use 127.0.0.1 for the address. Let the program auto assign ports in the wizard (as long as you have forwarded them)

Put a server password on for your family to use. Should be able to see the server on the server list when its booted.

The program automatically checks for updates as well for the game as well as mods and new versions of itself.

Previously I had only used this which has good instructions on the ports https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/33678-release-atlas-server-controller-my-program-to-help-setup-and-run-privately-all-225-grids-of-the-official-servers-for-solo-players-and-small-groups-on-average-hardware/

EDIT:

I forgot to mention you will also need the latest ServerGridEditor from here https://github.com/GrapeshotGames/ServerGridEditor

You need to change all the IP's for every map zone to your WAN  IP which you can get from whatismyip.com

Also remember if you do not have a static IP address and your IP address changes you need to change the IP's in every grid in the serverGrid.json file

or you wont be able to connect. I just use the search and replace function in either notepad or notepad++ to do that.

I am still having nothing but trouble getting a server running here in my house. If anyone has a working 3x3 server that has all resources and all quests, that would be willing to share it please shoot me a message. i would be willing to provide the one i last tried, if you wanted to troubleshoot it. Or provide compensation for your time if i could get it working. This is just for me and my family and friends.. thank you

Hey friend!
I just spent the last 6 weeks fighting to get my server online. It's hard!
One of the biggest problems is theres about 100 guides and all of them are only like 40% complete 😄

One thing I found that was super helpful, is the Atlas Server Owner Support Discord server. https://discord.gg/ARHwrB56UZ

They have tons of guides and people giving live help and are really  good at asnwering questions. I asked a million questions and they were very patient mostly.

Also, do yourself a favor and download the Atlas Server Update Utility by Phoenix125 (Google it) - It makes managing your server so much easier. You can also get help for that on Discord.
