House Boat / Real Autopilot

Recommended Posts

My idea is this: Create a house boat that docks at a port (new structure). As you explore you build ports which you can then have your house boat drive itself to. Details are below:

House boat:

-One house boat per company

-8k max weight (upgradable to 20k)

-3x3x3 build size limit (think fat sloop)

-cannot be damaged or sunk (except auto decay), even in PVP.

-24 hr delay from time boat leaves current port to when it arrives at selected port, regardless of distance. Visible and interactable throughout the journey and allows another of your ships to dock to it during transition as long as you are online. Docked ships can still be raided, damaged, and sunk. Weight of docked ships does not impact house boat

-While aboard, one cannot cause or receive damage (other than status damage like starving, dehydrated, etc.)

Ports:

- 8 ports allowed per company

-5x5 structure (decking that wraps around the house boat when docked, similar to ship yards.

-Able to be damaged

-Control house boat destination similar to fast travel via bed, except connecting to other ports. Upon selection of destination,  house boat departs leaving behind the basic port structure for future return

The goal:

Goal is to have a 'safe place' for your company to store a small amount of resources. This solution also helps even out the playing field for players who don't have time to play often.  They can travel while offline and play daily from their new locations. This also solves the call for both PvP and pve options together on the same server. The restrictions limit it from abuse by applying weight and per-company quantity limits.

I definitely like the port part of the idea. We should have some type of travel between ports. Also I agree the travel should be auto piloted.

What you call the thing that travels between them, and exactly how it works could be worked out, but it should carry resources like you say, also the player.
