Base defense without so many npcs

Recommended Posts

The lag that npcs cause for Xbox players is terrible. I'm on a fairly new one X and still have horrible frame rate around bases with defenses. Ark realized that too many defenses caused lag so don't you think its time to rethink base defense for atlas? We need turrets that fire without having to have an npc for every single one. We need organic defenses such as plant turrets and a way to store unused ships and animals. You are basically forcing players in larger tribes to destroy the game.

Craftable static turrets with variable sizes, so for example a 10 cannon turret a 20 cannon turret a 30 cannon turret...each turret has a ammo box and each cannon on the turret costs the same amount as a npc on a turret....yeah that would shure be nice

- cannon towers don't work... either they get blindsided (large cannons) or out-ranged (medium cannons)... in any case they do not deal enough damage per area... so save yourself lots of structures that just get destroyed...
- if you want to save on defense structures that actually work (somewhat) climbing protected natural pillar bases is meta...
- the problem in structure numbers is not the NPC gun, but the support structures needed for it to work at all... as everything NPC can be out-ranged the structures are needed to get the target close enough and/or protect the NPC gun long enough...
- and obviously a 2x2 wall piece (for example) would reduce wall structures rendering needed by up to 75%, etc... and obviously if the structures would have more or upgrade-able hit points would not need honey combing...
