Grill connected to water pipes issues

Recommended Posts

I know it has been posted before, but here we go...

When the grill is connected to a water source and has its fire lit, it burns through wood at a rate of 1 unit wood per second and drains 100 units of water per 1 second burn cycle.  It acts as if you have a run of items to be manufactured even if you have no work jobs queued. If you leave wood in the grill it reignites after you turn it off, you have to remove the wood.  This only happens when connected to water pipes.

It also fails to draw water from your water system as a whole.  So if you have 12 reservoirs linked together, the grill seems to only work with what it has been drip fed from the nearest one.  It recharges its own store of water at the same rate as the nearest reservoir in the chain.  Pipes show as blue and connected, reservoirs in the daisy chain show ample water further back in the supply.

Can we please fix this so that a grill operates from the reservoir stores that you have and so that the wood burn cycle does not glitch badly?  My temp fix is to break one pipe link in the chain near the grill and work with water bladders from a tap.  Hardly ideal for what should be a plumbed system.

That's an odd one. I always connect my grill to the water pipes and it just re-fills after crafting anything until I totally run out of water.

And I can't say I've ever seen an issue with wood burning on it either. The only real pain is having to connect it to an existing water pipe when you place it, instead of being able to place it then attaching a water pipe.

I've never managed to get it working that way, even if it appears it's connected it doesn't get any water. Always have to have placed the pipes first then snap the grill to them.

It does make placing the grill exactly where you want it a little more tricky. I never get the pipes dead straight so the grill is always a fraction off centre!

I work in reverse, which i think is the only way possible. Place the reservoir, the pipes and then drop the grill onto the end of a pipe.

I have this same problem... 😞  I've had working grills attached to water before. They would cook meat without using water and stay off when turned off. These grills I have in my new desert base will turn on as soon as wood is placed in, and they suck all my water from my reservoirs.. In the desert... Is a HUGE deal. I work so hard to keep water stored and my garden watered. Turn on a grill... and in a matter of minutes 6 reservoirs that filled over several days get completely drained... Please fix this or let us know of a work around. I'll be happy to post more information if needed.

I've tried to move and replace the grills, reservoirs and pipes. Tried putting in thatch instead of wood. Same results over and over. There is one work around, but it is not great. If I place a reservoir on non-water rich ground so that the reservoir is not irrigated, then connecting a grill works as expected. Of course this sucks b/c you're having to move water to fill reservoir... At least it makes the water tank for the grill 12300.

RIP.... I added a second grill to the circuit and the first one that was working fine lit up and drained water... FML

This messed-up grill issue has been a thing for a loooong time. Must be 3000 down the list of things to fix.

Ive had a problem with our grill. We had 2 next to each other running from the same pipe line.

The grills acted like they were taking water from each other and couldn't work out which one to use.

Then when we demolished one so the 1 grill had a supply. It then showed that we had wood and water supply so we lit the grill but all items were still greyed out even though we had the mats. We could still create what we wanted but everything was still grey.

So got the grill working on pc

Make the pipework first
Make sure there is no ceiling above the grill placement area (although if you have high ceilings this doesnt appear to be an issue)
It should then snap to the pipes

However i believe there is a huge bug with this (hahah was tabbed out and got ate by a level 10 tiger whilst typing this)

Once you have the water source connected via the rainwater or fresh water source it always says 0/2 water and you cannot stack more than one celery soup or 3 berry teas (one creation)

Pretty sure this is bugged as tried both rain water and the stone storage method so its not a supply issue but you cannot stack like normal food items if it requires water to make.

Havent tested if multiple water jars negates this issue but its likely

Now to go retrieve my items!

Still getting the issue where the grill constantly relights when on irrigated water source and this actually cancels the food in the queue.
I thought it might be cooking raw meat related so made a secondary grill connected to the same water pipe line and putting meat in one and food production in the other.

Still the same issue. I get the ""wooof" sound of a grill relighting and it cancels whatever is in production at this time

Tbh this is making the game impossible to play using food and the vitamin system so better off just dying and retrieval.

Fix this as its game breaking!
