Stupid question. Is honey found in trees or on the ground?

I've found a ton of nectar but no honey and I've read that this island (o6) has honey.

Looking at the http://antihax.github.io map, 4 out of the 5 islands in o6 have honey. But not much. Might be hard to find because its limited there. A structure could be blocking the node as well.

Also it looks like the one island without honey is the one with nectar.

To answer the OP, honey is found in nodes on the ground that look like orange exposed honeycombs sitting on a rock.

This is what I've been harvesting.

When I look at the nodes on the ground,  it says HONEY as it's main category and then NECTOR. 

When I look at it in my inventory it says its NECTAR and SUGAR.  

Its icon looks like the NECTAR icon according to the WIKI,  so that's why I'm confused.  

So,  even those its identified as Honey it's actually Nectar?

Yep. You'll want to check the other islands for one where you actually get honey instead of nectar.

Yeah its annoying that the nectar spawns look like honey.  If I remember right the easy way to tell besides holding "H" while looking at it is if any bees spawn when you start harvesting it.  Nectar spawns have no bees, honey does. 

 

IMO they should change the nectar spawn......at worst change the color so its recognizable by vets.

As I’m from O6 I can confirm that Ponoto and Kirkney Ait both have honey, apparently Montmeda does too, but I haven’t personally seen it.

malsea Atoll has none, I can’t speak for the last island.
