Devs, thanks for making Official servers playable for Solo Players.

Recommended Posts

I haven't played since the gathering rates were really high before the wipe.  Putting in about 14 hours over the last three days.  Not been raided once.  Ships haven't been sunk, nothing hasn't even been damaged.  Nor have I seen a soul.  Likewise there isn't the building spam there was before the wipe.  Island I building on only has a pair of taming pens, nothing else.  I rarely even see people enter the grid square.

With so few people actually bothering to log in, it's made solo play viable.  Probably not what the Devs intended, but congrats anyway!!!

Everyone I was playing this game started back up after the wipe.  They are all off playing Warframe and other things.  As I don't remember what the TOS, I'm not gonna repeat what they said about the game and why they aren't playing.  Though I would describe their language as "profane" and them as having "potty mouths" regarding the state of the game.

Be that as it may, you chose to post something positive, so thank you, and welcome back.

People still play this?

Nope.

We all just gather here on the forums to pretend to complain about issues in a game we don’t play, provide suggestions for a game we don’t play, and set up trades within a game we don’t play.

Realist is the only one here who actually plays Atlas.

Why do you ask?

That's the reason I play single-player these days.  With no-one around there's no point in me joining a server when I get exactly the same gaming experience playing on my single-player map.

I would like to amend what I stated before.  The Official server is almost playable for a solo player.  Because apparently no one is allowed to own a ship.  I noticed this before the wipe.  It must be mandatory that all ships be sunk where ever and whenever they are found.

Solo player on EU-PvP... Play now 3-4 weeks and my ship is still alive. Now and then someone tries to take it over, but nobody wants to sink it.

Ähmm, are you living in some parallel universe, dear Mr.  author ?

Your ships are sunk if someone wants them to be sunk. It does not matter if you build stone gates (half of a broadside..game over), it does not matter if you place puckle, gun or whatever turrets. You wont even scratch the outer hull of the raiders.

Stone walls of any kind are ridiculous, a few grenades out of a free climbers backpack or a nice cannon placed directly offline in front of your base.. directly game over. Pets ? Oh my god.. pets are auto-history in the moment you tame them. You cant even bring them into -relative- safety into a high rock base but have to store them on the ground inside of  some shelter = see grenades & cannons.

Recently Grapeshot frankly showed their ugly face very open : Any mega company can wipe any solo player on „their“ island with just a push on a button. Directly game over for ALL of your assets on that island.

The once free ATLAS world turned into a socialism. Exactly what is actually happening to our countries. In this respect, Grapeshot shows some realism by killing players freedom piece by piece, indeed.

I beg you, please wake up and face reality !

I suggest you read up on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism, because you seem to not have the slightest fucking clue what you're talking about.

And if you so oppose socialism, i plead for excluding YOU from any and all social participation before everyone else, because that's what opposing socialism means: excluding more than zero people from participating in social activities.

I provided several 90% polished solutions that would maybe restore the game to the right path.

One of them was central npc feeding, which was implemented very similarly to what i suggested.

Other 3 still havent been implemented, as the devs obviosuly find no worth in 1k hour player experiences on offiical pvp.

One of them being a done solution for fast traveling, which i posted on several places, as people are leaving the game due to boredom of sailing on already discovered places for hours (and some polls even proved that was the reason of their leaving), but nothing was done about that as to date.

Second one was regarding AI passive defenses and their buffing - still not implemented.

Third one was about scalability of war timer based on company size in personell and the number of players that are allied to the fompany, boiling down to war being a permanent state for zerg companies, and for 3 member companies or lower, war would last 2 hours which would be a minimum. Still not implemented afaik.

Until those have been addressed it is my firm opinionthe game would not be reinstated to its former glory. I stopped playing and uninstalled more than a month ago, but still keeping track.

In the first days, there were 50k players.

in month after the wipe, the game had steady 11k players during peak times, which i found barely enough, as that number should be divided by cca 2 (official/unofficial) and then again divided by 2 (pvp/pve) and then again by 2 (na/eu), and voila that was your server community.

Yeah I was here from day one. I saw the 50k players all causing massive unplayable lag. I didn't consider it glorious. It was a brief period of fervent activity brought on mostly by self generated hype from players watching streamers and thinking Atlas was gonna be the new Eve right out of the gate. So far Atlas is the new Age of Conan/Wildstar/Vanguard.

As always ymmv

And my Rhino disappeared.  Literally.  I had it and my bear out doing things, parked the Rhino next to the base, ran down the beach on my Bear then heard the Rhino being attacked.  It was fighting a scorpion right next to the raft.  Which is weird as that is the only time I've ever seen a scorpion on the island.  Rhino knocked the scorpion into the water.  Ran over on the bear and killed the scorpion before it came out of the water.  When I turned around, no Rhino.

Checked the log, it wasn't dead.  Swam out into the water, server went down, died, got back in, got the bear out of the water.  My death was in the log, nothing about the Rhino.  Searched the whole island.  No Rhino.  Remembered to check the tame limit in my inventory.  Three (3) tames out of 1600.  Three?  Bear, check.  Elephant, check.  Giraffe, check.  Checked the log again.  Then checked the log again.  Nothing about the Rhino dying.  It was there, then it wasn't.  And it was a nice Rhino too. 😞

(At least Rhinos aren't hard to tame, though it will be a PITA to find a nice level one again).
